Usually the celebrities who emerge from the closet do so to jump start a flagging career. On Monday, a person of some substance came out and didn’t require a magazine cover to announce it .
I’m not going to equate Anderson Cooper with Edward R. Murrow, but he’s a much better role model than the gay Real Housewife mascots and Lance Bass’ of the world.
Coming out is no one’s business but your own, and Cooper had legitimate reasons to be discreet. Though, as I’m sure he’s now aware, it’s best to state the obvious.
