Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all of over again.
The timing may not have been ideal for Romney’s spokesman to reveal the campaign’s general election strategy, but I don’t necessarily believe it was an accident. The Anchorman’s disingenuousness may prove to be an asset; independents, turned off by the strident rhetoric of the GOP candidates, are trending toward Obama. Romney needs them to believe he’s closer to the reasonable Republican who was governor of Massachusetts than the Limbaugh-pandering right-winger if he stands any chance of winning the presidency.
