In defense of personal attacks

30 Aug

My disdain for Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin is more personal than partisan. I don’t care for Keith Olbermann or Alan Grayson, either. Why should I apologize for disliking preening demagogues and opportunistic dolts?

I don’t hate conservatives or progressives — just pompous assholes and conspiratorial whack jobs. If we really want to restore America’s honor we’ll single out the blowhards and dividers, left and right. They’re nearly as toxic as any extremist ideology.

Who are you watching or reading that you really respect? Someone either as a commentator or journalist who’s doing an excellent job without devolving into the kind of demagoguery you describe?

Most of cable news, that is. He’s fairly political, but I think Anderson Cooper does a solid job.

It’s okay to dislike people on a personal, even visceral level. This is your site. None of us likes everybody. I am a conservative and Glenn Beck makes my skin crawl.
