While I agree that Zell Miller has become a right-wing nut, he deserves a pass for the gorilla glue remark.
For those who don’t know (and I didn’t), Gorilla Glue is an actual product. Poor choice of words, perhaps, but I’m willing to give Zell the benefit of the doubt based on his noble effort to change Georgia’s state flag (which at the time incorporated the Confederate battle emblem) while serving as governor.

I don’t want to reopen the pandora’s box that the Georgia state flag has become.
However, the New Georgia Encyclopedia page is a piece of revisionist history. The quote by Denmark Groover (without a specified source) is new to me, and I have followed this mess from 1993 on.
There might’ve been a better source, but Zell (when he was governor) was pretty consistent about changing the flag.
Consarnit, Zell, do you see what happens when you leave the comfort of your rocking chair and blanket?
