Yes. At least the right wing. The moderate Republicans however are a bunch of idiots for not stepping up and do something for their party. Maybe they are also stupid. Moderate Republcans, aka Democrat Lite, are the reason the GOP is in such sad shape. If the GOP returns to Conservative ideals, they will return to winning elections. Until then… screw ‘em.
Moderate Republicans haven’t held any sway since before Reagan. Blaming them for the GOP’s demise would be like blaming conservative Demorcats for John Kerry’s loss.
What conservative ideals? Those which sounds like religious extremism or those which sounds like pure racism? Conservatism is dead. The ideas are not working anymore. Pragmatism should be the goal.
Atlmalcontent – Moderate Republicans have been running the GOP since Newt left. It should be made obvious from my response to Heinrich that Conservatives have not been in charge for a looong time, just compare that list to the actions of GWB and the GOP since Gingrich left.
Heinrich – conservative ideals are things like fiscal responsibility, limited government, a strong military, low taxes (our corp taxes are number 1 or 2 highest in the world), etc. Despite what you believe, this country is pretty conservative and this state definitely is conservative. Please don’t confuse the GOP with Conservative, they are only tangentially related.

W is no Conservative, not even close. yes, he is moderate in that he gives the iopposition pretty much everything htey want as long as they do likewise i.e. education spending with Kennedy and spending spending with damned near everyone else.

The funny thing is that friends in Germany think that I am conservative…because I am responsible with my finances. That’s it – a strong military? I think military is overrated. Spend more money in education to have smarter people that develop better weapons….actually how do you define strong military? Because I think smart military would be more effective.

Conservatism has no basis in race. It is all about Government and the role it plays in life.
Exactly – Government should play a role that it supports its people. Helps you when you sick, unemployed – helps with education. That’s why you pay taxes.
