Not in Palestine — at least none who would admit it. Queers for Palestine may want to think twice before paying a visit.

Rick Santorum and Nazis
He’s quite fond of comparing political opponents to the Third Reich, as Dana Milbank points out: His most famous episode came in 2005, when Democrats criticized Senate Republicans for threatening to do away with the filibuster. “The audacity of some members to stand up and say, ‘How dare you break this rule?’ — it’s the equivalent [...]

Why does Sarah Palin speak like a third grader?
The idiot Palin’s response to Rick Santorum’s views on Satan “setting his sights on America” are predictably childish. And for these lame-stream media characters to get all wee-weed up about that, first you have to ask yourself, ‘Have they ever attended a Sunday school class even? Worse, she thinks she’s clever.

The problem with constituencies
For years the GOP has placated the religious right, even as Christian fundamentalists have steered the movement to the fringe. On a national level, at least, that constituency has been heard but not seen. Sure, George W. Bush spoke openly of his faith and helped secure a second term behind the gay marriage boogeyman, but [...]

Idiotic statements like this, whether from the Right or the Left, just shows the need for more Americans to travel abroad. No matter where you go or what you think, you’re preconceived notions about the rest of the world will be disabused in some manner.
Hangings and imprisonment of gays in many parts of the Middle East aren’t preconceived notions — they’re fact.
Like all Islamic polities, the Palestinian Authority systematically harasses gay people. Under the cloak of rooting out Israeli “collaborators,” P.A. officials extort, imprison, and torture gays. But Palestinian oppression of homosexuality isn’t merely a matter of state policy, it’s one firmly rooted in Palestinian society, where hatred of gays surpasses even that of Jews. Last October, a gay Palestinian man with an Israeli lover petitioned Israel’s high court of justice for asylum, claiming that his family threatened to kill him if he did not “reform.” He’s one of the few lucky Palestinians to be able to challenge his plight.
I’m not posting this as some sort of blind “Israel is always right” neo-con — but there should be no confusion how gays are viewed by a vast majority in the Muslim world.
‘Hangings and imprisonment of gays in many parts of the Middle East aren’t preconceived notions — they’re fact.’
Yeah – I was agreeing with you. They need to have their eyes opened for them.
I was confused by the initial comment, too. I’m used to it meaning people are kinder than what we assume from afar. That’s the usual lesson, though I’ll grant it’s probably not universally true.
Okay, got ya. I was confused as well.
