Next week marks the 30th anniversary of the mass suicide in Guyana. The Jonestown massacre, in which 909 people died, remains the creepiest event in my lifetime.
Jonestown: The Life and Death of People’s Temple is the definitive documentary on the tragedy. The audio of Jones exhorting his followers to drink the Kool-Aid is harrowing stuff.
Perhaps I will no longer have to explain to most people under 40 years old what it means to be a “Kool Aid drinker”
