Already sorted out 1990s nominees and the best of ’91 and ’92.
Four automatic entries: Goodfellas, Fargo, Unforgiven and the 1992 French classic Olivier, Olivier.
Six to go. Here’s 1993′s contenders: The Remains of the Day, True Romance, Short Cuts, This Boy’s Life, Schindler’s List and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?
Quick takes: Anthony Hopkins’ performance as the repressed butler in “Remains” may be the decade’s best; Leonardo DiCaprio was nearly as good in “This Boy’s Life”. Casting Tom Waits as Lily Tomlin’s boyfriend and Lili Taylor as her daughter in “Short Cuts” was inspired.
I suspect at least one of those flicks will land in the final 10. Oversights happen, so keep me honest.
