if you tolerate this then your children will be next

I’m told I’m getting a little obsessive with my anti-Palin rants. Can you blame me?

CLEARWATER — Constantly under the watchful eyes of security, the media wasn’t permitted to wander around inside Coachman Park to talk to Sarah Palin supporters. When reporters tried to leave the designated press area and head toward the bleachers where the crowd was seated, an escort would dart out of nowhere and confront him or her and say, “Can I help you?” and turn the person around.

When one reporter asked an escort, who would not give her name, why the press wasn’t allowed to mingle, she said that in the past, negative things had been written. The campaign wanted to avoid that possibility Monday.

If that doesn’t make you queasy I seriously question your patriotism.

  1. atlmalcontent, i wouldn’t believe EVERYTHING you read about what happens at political rallies, especially when its reported by a press largely against the host of the rally. of course the press is going to feel mistreated by the mccain staffers. in my opinion, having to choose between obama and mccain is like having to choose to eat either sand or dirt. but with only thirty days before election, giving credence to nonsense like this only adds to the ‘slinging.’

  2. We’ll see if this is nonsense or not. There are news crews at these rallies and the footage should find itself on the internet in quick fashion. What we do know is that screams of “Kill Him” and “Terrorist” are being shouted in reference to Ayers and Obama at McCain and Palin appearances. Not too cool.

  3. Weren’t they put behind fences at a Democrat convention? :-) I know that was for protestors, but some of us on the right consider many press members as Dem operatives. We might think differently if they didn’t vote Dem at the 95% levels.

No one “managed” the press better than Senator Clinton.

Notice, “designated press area”. I have done a good bit of large scale event management and I would have done exactly the same thing if a credentialed person tried to enter an area that was not permitted by their credentials.

Only a jackass leaves a credentialed area and expects to not be stopped.

This is a rally for supporters, not an appearance by any elected official trying to hide government actions, so I fail to see how this relates to patriotism. It’s a party and some of the guests are not very welcome there and for good reason.

And yes, you are a bit obsessive.

  4. “Kill him” is not cool

“Terrorist” in reference to Ayers (don’t forget Dorne, too) is factually correct and accurate. Since Ayers is completely unrepentant, it is also appropriate.

  5. I wrote extensively about Sen. Clinton’s managing the press. Seems like Palin takes it a step further.

As for the obsessive part … she’s become such an integral part of the campaign that she merits more attention than, say, Biden, who’s almost incidental to the election.

  6. I don’t think she does. Sen Clinton barely gave press conferences in her Senate run and stage manages her appearances to a T. All smart politicians do that.

You asked us if you were being obsessive.

And I agree that Palin merits more attention than Biden, as long as that isn’t an excuse to ignore Obama and Bidens problems.
