that’s exactly what they said about jesus

“Joel is a level-5 leader. He knows there is more than one way to get to a point, and he lets his people get to the point their way. He’s a true level-5—great delegator, great empowerer, great big-picture thinker.”

Victoria Osteen, describing her husband, one of the country’s most influential evangelists and loathsome frauds.

A faltering economy is a boon to the likes of Joel Osteen, who preaches the increasingly popular “prosperity gospel.” “God wants us to prosper financially, to have plenty of money, to fulfill the destiny He has laid out for us,” he once wrote. In other words, Jesus died for your 401K.

Unfortunately, the disciples neglected to share any of His Ponzi schemes in the Gospels. Fortunately, Osteen has corrected their oversight with a series of books about how to “serve” God and make a killing doing so.

(Like most of their huckster peers, the Osteens have a flair for the garish.)

the coming obama backlash

It’s hard to dispute that the MSM has a pro-Obama tilt, for reasons beyond the old “liberal bias” canard.

But with profits disappearing, the media has become very sensitive to what the public perceives (too much so, but that’s another post). The political press also pays close attention to Jon Stewart, who earlier last week observed, “after a quick meet-and-greet with King Abdullah, Obama was off to Israel, where he made a quick stop at the manger in Bethlehem where he was born.”

Now that the MSM has their opening (Obama as “The One”) expect them to hit the Democratic nominee hard, at least for a few weeks. Based on recent evidence, it’ll a corrective overreaction.

Remember when Hillary started complaining about unfair coverage during the latter days of the Democratic primary? “SNL” (a long-acknowledged force within the mainstream press) picked up that meme with a skit lampooning the media’s love affair with Obama.

Suddenly there were reports of a Hillary surge, while pundits began wondering whether Obama could “close the deal.”

This time around expect to see stories about Obama’s overconfidence and McCain’s pluck. Unfortunately for the Republican standard bearer, “SNL” is currently on hiatus.
