"you will remember my name. i'm the one who beat you at your game" Aretha Franklin

historical context, obama and “curious george” bush

Thanks to the Drudge link, I’ve received hundreds of E-mails regarding the Obama/”Curious George” T-shirt controversy. Not surprisingly, a partisan theme has emerged: Why is it okay to portray George W. Bush as a monkey but not Obama?

was it racist for 8yrs pictures of bush and chimps were circulated?
or when tshirts had bush as curious george?
the left calls bush chimpy mchitler…
humorously, they ripped bush for his cocaine use too…
this is soooo rich.

i guess it didn’t find a space into your piece.

(Actually, I tried to make that point at this morning’s conspiracy meeting but was silenced by my comrades.)

Let’s review.

Privileged whites were never enslaved. They were never counted as less than a whole person. They were never barred from voting or lynched by innuendo. And they were never systematically demeaned as ape-like.

It may be disrespectful to compare the president to a simian, but it’s not racist. And it’s not a double standard.
