It would be silly to accuse ex-Clinton aide — and debate co-moderator — George Stephanopoulos of favoring his old boss Wednesday. He broke publicly with the administration during Bill‘s impeachment, and, despite her guileless exploitation of Obama’s recent rhetorical gaffe, Hillary is as bitter as they come.
I’m guessing Stephanopoulos is already catching shit from Obama loyalists, and to be fair he tossed his share of red meat. Within the debate’s first hour, the senator from Illinois was quizzed about his former pastor, his “connection” to William Ayers — unrepentant Anglo terrorist — and his decision not to wear a flag pin on his lapel. You know, the big issues.
Mimicking a caller to Sean Hannity’s show, “Great American” Hillary Clinton persisted in questioning Obama’s fitness for office. But unlike those D-List dittoheads, Hillborg said she would work hard to elect her opponent, were he the nominee. In other words: Obama is unprepared to be president, but I support him enthusiastically.
Despite receiving plenty of hanging curves, Hillary was hamstrung by: a hangover, and a nagging trust deficit; only 63 percent of Democrats think she’s honest.
Which is good news for Obama, who stammered his way through a listless rebuttal Wednesday night. Hope he wasn’t downing shots beforehand, as Hillary has much more experience in the drinking arts.
