Pork Roll” — Ween, from the “It’s Pat” movie;

I Am Pentagon” — The Make-Up;

If You Tolerate This” — Manic Street Preachers;

My Way” — Sid Vicious;

Hot Love” — T. Rex;

Something” — The Beatles;

La Mer” — Charles Trenet (France’s unofficial national anthem; ours is “God Bless the USA.” No wonder the French are arrogant).

Happy birthday, Ray Davies

He turns 63 today; celebrate with “Waterloo Sunset” and “Sunny Afternoon.”

Truly, “A Well Respected Man.”

(Some of my favorite Davies quotes:

“As soon as I know it’s a hype, there’s something inside me that turns it off.”

“There’s part of me that would rather be living in an attic somewhere, having meetings with fellow attic dwellers to overthrow the world.”)

Reclaiming the “L word”

Two days ago I argued that the left should cleave to the epithet ‘liberal’, on account of the importance of the values liberalism has stood for historically. I did not then enter the reservation that I will enter now: which is that if the word is sometimes held in low esteem, part of the reason for this is the kind of ‘liberalism’ that will lose sight of the need to defend some crucial liberal value in the light of obfuscating considerations. You may be opposed to the honours system, or you may think that Rushdie wasn’t worth a knighthood for literary or personal reasons; but ambiguity about how much respect is owed to the outrage over the award there should not be. None is.

Norm Geras refers to British author Will Self and academic Marcel Berlins, each of whom has apparently concluded that Muslim outrage transcends recognition of artistic valor (regardless of what one thinks of legitimizing the monarchy). Many “liberals” would agree. Call ‘em what they really are: cowards. You know, the “C word.”

The high price of infamy

NBC has agreed to pay as much as $1 million for Paris Hilton’s first after-jail interview, which will appear on the “Today” show, The Post has learned.

Sources told The Post the sit-down will be conducted by Meredith Vieira the day after the heir-head is sprung some time next week.

I guess the networks have stopped pretending they don’t pay for interviews. And that makes them different from the tabloids how?

My campaign theme song

Best used if we’re faced with a three-way race between Hillary, Rudy and Bloomberg — “New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down,” courtesy of LCD Soundsystem.

As for this modest flurry of Bloomberg mania, don’t buy it. This is not criticism, just fact — socially liberal Jews from New York don’t play well in, as Ned Flanders once eloquently put it, “that mass of land between New York and California called America.”

And what exactly does Bloomberg have to offer? I’m a third party zealot, but I don’t see an issue that catapults the New York mayor into contention. Chuck Hagel, on the other hand …

I see overrated movies

I’ve already bitched about the worthy nominees omitted from consideration for the "100 Best American Films Ever." The American Film Institute has completed its list, and, well, I’m ready to bitch some more.

First off — "The Sixth Sense" rates higher than "Goodfellas." Are you fucking kidding me? And "Toy Story" merits inclusion?

Oh yeah, and where the fuck is "Being There?" I know I’m repeating myself, but "The Sixth Sense?" "Toy Story?" M. Night Shyamalan over Martin Scorsese? Pixar over Hal Ashby?

Why not just put the "Basic Instinct" sequel in the Top 10?
