The 411 on 9/11

Was it really that bad? David Bell says the U.S. has overreacted:

Imagine that on 9/11, six hours after the assault on the twin towers and the Pentagon, terrorists had carried out a second wave of attacks on the United States, taking an additional 3,000 lives. Imagine that six hours after that, there had been yet another wave. Now imagine that the attacks had continued, every six hours, for another four years, until nearly 20 million Americans were dead. This is roughly what the Soviet Union suffered during World War II, and contemplating these numbers may help put in perspective what the United States has so far experienced during the war against terrorism.

Orwellian alert

So if I wanted to be a resident assistant at Arizona State University, I’d be required to attend a sensitivity boot camp. I don’t think I’d be a resident assistant at Arizona State University:

Assigned the identity of a gay Hispanic, Visconti’s persistence during the training got him nowhere. A woman with a Southern accent told him there was nothing he could do. She said he was going to hell, and that even Jesus said so in the Bible.

“It crossed the line,” Visconti said. “All it did was reinforce the most disgusting, hateful and ugly stereotypes in our society.”

Of course there’s no sensitivity to Southerners. We’re all racist, homophobic bigots, don’t ya know. Where’s the understanding?

The blogopshere says what?

Missed me guys? Soooo sorry I’ve been away, but it’s been a rough month.

Okay, so my peeps know that my favorite show is "Grey’s Anatomy." WAS my favorite show. When I heard the hateful things come out of Isaiah Washington’s mouth I just couldn’t believe it. I literally cried. I mean I was in bed for a week. But T.R. Knight’s bravery helped me recover. So I started writing letters, to Gov. Arnold and the producers and the networks demanding Washington be jailed for hate crimes. And I’m pondering a civil suit. It’s time we took action against hate once and for all. Washington should never work again, that’s for sure. Anyone who uses that awful word, including gay people, should be incarserated.

So now I have a little more time to myself, having boycotted "Grey’s Anatomy." I started writing poetry, you know, really getting in touch with my feelings because as ya’ll know I keep a lot of things bottled up "Inside":

Inside
Where feelings lie
And I die
Inside
Come out of me
Fear, sadness and angry
Inside
My demons reside
Along with pride
Inside
Come out of me
Let me love
Let me be free
Inside

Not bad, eh? Well I showed it to Rand-O and he was like, "That’s good for a beginner." I mean, I bared my soul and that was all he could say? He tried to apologize, but I was sooo devastated I went back to bed and pulled the covers over my head (hey, that rhymes). Randy can so oogy sometimes. He’s away on business right now, which is kinda good. We’re still trying to work things out, but it’s hard. And now I don’t have McDreamy and McSteamy to keep me company.

Well at least "Heroes" is on tonight. YAY! So much better than that awful "24" which is so mean to those poor Muslims.

That’s about it for now. I gotta get my poetry on, bitches! LOL

Politicizing romance

Valentine’s Day approaches — better line up an ideological soulmate:

For progressives, there’s Act for Love, the place to meet liberals, Democrats, activists — folks who actually care about the world. Find a date, find a friend, or find a partner for activism.

For those on the right, there’s Hannidate, the place where people of like conservative minds can come together to meet.

I’d rather be alone.
