I got my share of quizzical looks Saturday as I cheered Vandy’s shocking upset of UGA. "Didn’t you go to Georgia?" Um, yeah.
But to paraphrase Larry David, I take great pleasure in seeing a stadium full of people go home disappointed. Particularly when those people place such undue importance on the outcome.
To be fair, Georgia fans (I’m talking about the hardcores, most of whom didn’t even attend UGA) are no more obnoxious than those who live and die by Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, et al. But obnoxious they are, treating each loss as an affront. How dare a bunch of college kids ruin my Saturday! 
I’m a huge Braves backer, but I don’t sit on hold for an hour waiting to berate Bobby Cox on a radio talk show after a loss. I actually feel sorry for Mark Richt, who’s won two SEC championships in four years but gets nary a break when things go badly —
"Georgia fans have become accustomed to winning and therefore take a loss to an unranked, typically pushover team very hard. But why shouldn’t we?" said Adam Scott, UGA class of 2004. "Georgia is our team, and we expect them to use the talent they have to compete every single year."

ugansfla: I respect CMR (Richt), but he doesn’t have the fire that translates to the players. You have to have passion to play this game and it looks like our players lack that. This is a tough pill to swallow, losing to Vandy at home. I hope that maybe these last 4 weeks will light a fire under somebody’s ass and we will turn things around, but I’m not so sure that this coaching staff has what it takes to get that done.
Lewis and Hersch: Anyone who makes $2 million plus is paid to do what it takes to improve and inevitably to win. This is not charity and the stakes are high.

Its funny thinking about a bunch of southern rednecks rooting a shitty team, I mean, at least in Ohio they have some skills and a good tream.
